Port Blair, June 22: The Administration has decided to contribute one day’s salary of employees with their consent towards Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Uttarakhand relief. A circular has been issued today by Secretary (Personnel) requesting all Heads of Department/Office, Heads of Local Bodies and Public Sector Undertaking to deduct one day salary of officers and staff with their consent from the salary of June 2013.

It may be recalled that unprecedented damage and devastation has been caused in Uttarakhand in the recent flush flood and landslides as a result many have died and thousands of people are missing. All rescue operations are on to rescue the stranded and to provide food and medical facilities to the affected people.

It may be further recalled that when devastating Tsunami struck the islands in December 2004, a large amount of relief in kind and cash was received from different States and private bodies. The administration would send the amount so collected to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the Uttarakhand relief to extend moral and financial support to bring back normalcy as early as possible from this disaster.
