Port Blair, June 24: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has approved the re-engagement 241 Short Term Contract Teachers (SSCTs) under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) during the academic session 2013-14, for the period up to the afternoon of the last working day of the schools for closure of Summer Vacation-2014 in different Block Resource Centres (BRC). The re-engagement order of the contract teachers was issued today.

Out of the 241 contract teachers, 16 teachers are re-engaged under the BRC South Andaman, 40 teachers under BRC Hut Bay, 25 teachers BRC Car Nicobar, 32 teachers BRC Nancowrie, 14 teachers BRC Campbell Bay, 48 teachers BRC Rangat, 33 teachers BRC Mayabunder and 33 teachers BRC Diglipur. The candidates employed under the SSA will be paid a consolidated emolument Rs 18,000 per month and during their contractual engagement, they will also be entitled for two and a half day’s leave for every completed month of their services.Further, all the eligible candidates can collect their re-engagement order from the respective BRCs and report to the concerned school immediately.

The PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma had met the Lt Governor last week and pressed for early re-engagement of contract teachers under SSA.
