Port Blair, July 12: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President INTUC accompanied with the office bearers of the Municipal Council Employees’ Union held discussion with the Chairperson, PBMC in the presence of Secretary of the Municipal Council on 10th July 2013 on various issues concerning the service conditions and welfare of the workers.

While appreciating the efforts of the Council in regularizing services of 242 daily rated mazdoors and 26 daily rated drivers the INTUC President deliberated on various issues, emphasising on regularization of the services of remaining Daily Rated Work Charge Mazdoors and sanitary workers,  early conduct of trade test and DPC to fill various promotional posts, exclusion of educational qualification of matriculation prescribed for the promotion in the feeder category posts in the recently notified Recruitment Rules, implementation of promotion scheme for Staff Car/ HVD drivers and MACP concurrently, implementation of prescribed norms for compassionate appointment and early settlement of various service matter related to maintenance of EPF account, timely issue of Form -16 & GPF account slips , grant of financial benefits under MACP, enhancement of washing allowance & stitching charges, timely supply of  liveries, introduction of night duty allowance and risk allowance/ insurance scheme norms, creating Employees Welfare Fund  etc.

The Chairperson, PBMC informed that the Council is aware of the issues and is attending many of the proposed issues. He also assured to look into the other grievances of the workers projected and to settle them as per merit, giving priority to the issues pertaining to service matter of the Workmen.
