Port Blair, July 16: The Command Aerospace Safety Conference was conducted by HQ Andaman and Nicobar Command on 16th July 2013.  It was the first time that the conference was held by HQ Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Aerospace Safety encompasses all elements that support flying and the critical role of the ‘man behind the machine’. The conference was chaired by Air Marshal PK Roy, AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command, and was attended by various dignitaries from the Armed Forces.

In his address to the delegates, the Commander-in-Chief stressed upon the essentials of Aerospace Safety and the professionalism required to meet the multifarious challenges thrown up by the flying environment in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The main focus of the conference was on flight safety and the support required for growth of infrastructure in these islands. Various challenges faced by the aviation sector, peculiar to these islands were deliberated upon in details, ranging from the limited infrastructure, long extended monsoons, lay and reach of the isles from the mainland to the problems of maintenance of aviation assets.
