Directions Issued To Social Welfare Department To Take Full Care of Education and Welfare of Parentless Children

Port Blair, July 18: The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM has directed the Social Welfare Department, A&N Administration to take full care of the education and welfare of the parentless children of Long Island, whose parents died a tragic death after being electrocuted.

The Lt. Governor, A.K. Singh has also sanctioned an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh each as fixed deposit in the name of the ill fated children of Late Anand Kishor Soreng and Late Sarita Dhanwar who died of electrocution on 13th July, 2013 at Long Island. The fixed deposit has been made in such a way that the amount along with its recurring interests will be received by these children on attaining their age of 18 years so that they can utilize the amount for a bright future.

ThePCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma who has made a request to the Lt. Governor after the report was flashed by Andaman Chronicle, has recorded his sincere gratitude to the LG for his kindness and merciful noble deed.

In a communication Sharma said that such noble act of the Lt. Governor for the overall help of these poor parentless children will be remembered by everybody.

Meanwhile, Andaman Chronicle salutes the kind gesture of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, for showing his care for the orphaned children and also for winning the hearts of the islanders, in a short spell of mere ten days. The Islanders have high hopes on the Lt. Governor and believe that the LG will go a long way in fulfilling the expectations of the islanders.
