Port Blair, July 19: A delegation of Government Employees Federation (GEF), A&N Islands led by its President Shri P. Kannan called upon the Hon’ble Lt. Governor. Lt. Gen (Retd) A.K. Singh on 18th July 2013. The delegation welcomed the Lt. Governor and briefed about the functioning of the GEF in these islands and assured full support and cooperation to him.
Various issues concerning the Islands were discussed during the meeting in the presence of the Chief Secretary and Secretary to the Lt. Governor. The issues discussed include; filling up of vacant posts in all departments which has not attracted a ban, deputing adequate staff in the inter-islands, eradication of corruption, unemployment issues, improvement in public services, proper implementation of transfer policy, imparting short term training/ seminars to all technical & non-technical staff, posting of adequate IAS/ DANICS and HODs.
Issues relating to good governance and development of the islands were also discussed. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor has sought suggestions, support and cooperation of the GEF for the smooth functioning of the Administration as well as for the development of the islands. On behalf of the Federation, Shri P. Kannan, President expressed gratitude to the LG for the patient hearing and assurances given.
