Delegation of NGGO’s Assn. Meet LG

Port Blair, July 19: A delegation of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, today met Lt. Gen (Retd) AK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM and conveyed its best wishes to him on assuming the office of the Lt. Governor. The Association presented an overview of the contribution of government employees to the development of these islands and the role played by the Association, which is the largest and only recognised Service Association in the islands. 

The Association presented before him some of the demands of the employees like (i) setting up a grievance redressal mechanism in the islands to settle the demands of government employees on the lines of JCM  (ii) construction of  more residential accommodation on the  same site where old residential quarters exist (iii) grant of  Grade Pay of Rs. 4200 on Non-Functional Selection Grade basis to HGCs and Stenographers with 5 years service  in the post  (iv) to extend Part B upgraded Pay to  Headmasters, PETs, Librarian, etc. as done in other UTs, (v) grant of ISDA to  teachers during summer vacation which is arbitrarily denied to them, etc.  He assured the delegation that he will try to settle all those issues of government employees which are coming under his purview.    

The Lt. Governor informed the delegation that he will not tolerate corruption at any level in the Administration and sought the cooperation of the Association, which the delegation of the Association readily agreed to.  The Lt. Governor also informed the delegation that he is committed to the overall development of these islands.  Lt. Governor sought the cooperation of the government employees for properly and effectively implementing various schemes for the welfare of the islanders.   

The delegation of the Association comprised (1) Shri Sadanand Rai, President (2) Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary (3) Shri TS Sreekumar, Asst. General Secretary (4) Shri Jairaj, Vice President, Clerical Cadre Branch and (5) Shri Suresh Singh, Organising Secretary of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch.
