Port Blair, July 21: The 31st Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Port Blair was held on 20th July 2013 at Hotel Fortune Bay Resort, Port Blair wherein the new President Rtn. Kaushik Banerjee and Secretary Rtn. Pankaj Rungta took over the charge for the year 2013-14. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Anand Prakash was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash appreciated the activities of the club and assured all support from the Administration for the welfare activities taken up from time to time.
On the occasion, Rtn. Girish Arora, outgoing President of the Club while thanking the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present explained how the club was able to serve the needy during the year 2012-13 with the active support of the Administration and the members of the club. Through a multi-media presentation, Arora tried to showcase the activities of the club, which was well received by the dignitaries and the members present.
The incoming President, Rtn. Kaushik Banerjee introduced the new office bearers of the club and also assured that the Club will be taking up activities as done in the past for the welfare of the needy and downtrodden.
On the occasion Rtn. Anil Goel of the club was declared as the first major donor of the club, who has donated 10,000 USD to Rotary International for the welfare activities done by the club worldwide.
Earlier a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Late Rtn. Sharma and Late Rtn. Goel who left for heavenly abode during the year 2012-13.
