Port Blair, July 22: The Secretary-cum-Director, Education, Shri D.N. Singh visited the GSSS Haddo (Telugu Medium) and all the feeder schools attached to GSSS Haddo (Telugu Medium) viz. GSS Haddo (Tamil and English medium), GSS Haddo (Hindi medium), Middle and Primary Section (Telugu medium) Laltha Singh’s Ground, Haddo and GPS Haddo (English medium) (Wooden Structure Building) yesterday.

The Secretary instructed the Principal, GSSS Haddo (Telugu) to take up the encroachment problem of Laltha Singh ground school matter with concerned authorities and ensure to take to its logical conclusion. He visited GSSS Haddo (Hindi medium) and found that students’ strength is only approximately 60 from class I to VIII and therefore, there is large spare capacity in the school in terms of space and manpower. He asked the Principal of GSS Haddo (Tamil) to explore the possibility of shifting the Primary School (English) which is being run in a very old wooden structure nearby and has approximately 300 students on its roll. He instructed the Headmaster/Incharge of all the feeder schools, that they should strictly monitor the implementation of mid-day meal scheme in terms of hygienic and quality.

The Secretary-cum-Director (Education) expressed his concern over the poor maintenance and unhygienic condition in GSS (Tamil & Hindi). The computer lab being run by a private company was not found to be working properly. The Headmaster, Shri V.T. Reddy has been directed to do the needful and maintain the school in a proper way.

Further, the Principal, GSS Haddo (Telugu Medium) has been directed to visit the feeder schools from time to time and ensure maintenance and other operational issues are attended properly.
