Port Blair, July 23: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has requested the Chief Secretary to direct the concerned authority to initiate immediate repairs to CCS building, situated at Aberdeen Bazar, Port Blair.

The MP in his letter to the Chief Secretary said that it has been noticed that the present CCS building situated at Aberdeen Bazaar, Port Blair is in a deteriorated condition and calls for immediate repairs/maintenance work.

The building has been constructed about 40 years ago and since then no major repair has been undertaken by the managing committee of CCS Ltd. Port Blair. The building is in need of urgent repairs /renovation to avoid any further damage.

The MP further said that if any major earthquake occurs, the building may be damage further and result in human casualties. It is danger to the life of the people residing in nearby area and may cause damage to the valuable stored goods. At present more than 100 staffs are working in the same building (Both CCS Ltd. / CCWS Ltd.).

In view of the above, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has requested the concerned Authority to inspect the building through qualified Engineer and initiate immediate repair works to avoid any incident in the main Bazaar area.
