Port Blair, July 25: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A K Singh today reviewed the functioning of the Vigilance Department of the Administration with the Chief Secretary, who is the Chief Vigilance Officer of the Administration, and other Officers of the Department.

The LG has stressed the need to improve the functioning of the Vigilance Department and directed the CVO to strengthen the department by posting suitable officers so as to make it more responsive, transparent and efficient. He also laid equal emphasis on preventive vigilance with regular review and close monitoring. All the HoDs are required to tone up their departmental vigilance units for ensuring preventive vigilance and providing corruption free services to the general public.

Principal Secretary, Secretaries and all heads of the Departments have also been directed to meet the people and attend to their grievances, on all working days between 12.00 noon-1.00 pm.
