Port Blair, Aug. 2: A strike was called by the members of BAR Council of Calcutta High Court at Port Blair today, which alleged that the A&N Police did not accept the complaint of a member of their council. The reason is known to be a minor accident in front of the Secretariat Gate couple of days ago in which Dr. R.K. Halder, Skin Specialist, GB Pant Hospital’s car squeezed against Advocate Tapan Das’ vehicle.

Sources inform that there was a heated argument and manhandling resulting in both the parties getting injured. Dr. RK Halder was immediately rushed to the GB Pant Hospital while Tapan Das after his medical examination tried to lodge a complaint, which was not accepted by the Police.

It is also learnt that Dr. RK Halder who was discharged from the GB Pant Hospital today had also filed a complaint against Tapan Das, which was readily accepted. Based on this the agitated members of BAR Council called for a strike today. The strike was withdrawn soon after the Police accepted the complaint of the Advocate Tapan Das.
