Port Blair, Aug. 5: The Part-time Re-trenched Employees Union (Education), A&N Islands today launched a beefed up dharna at Tiranga Park, Port Blair to press their reinstatement in the respective service in the Education Department. The employees were re-trenched from service after rendering 3-25 years or service in the department.

In the dharna, speakers said that they were misguided by some political leaders who gave false assurances to regularize their services. But the fact remains that retrenched employees have been deprived of their legitimate rights, they said.

The employees had approached the Member of Parliament, who assured them to stand beside them in their struggle till the settlement of the issue.

The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray also sat in the Dharna with the employees and blamed the Congress Party and its associate officials for betraying the retrenched employees. The secret plot was designed by the Congress party to retrench the poor workers for gaining narrow political mileage by making them scapegoat, the MP alleged.

Meanwhile the newly formed Union members are determined to struggle till their services are regularized and they are reinstated. The MP also expressed his belief and trust on the present Lt. Governor to resolve the issue.
