Port Blair, July 2: The PCC President Kuldeep Rai Sharma attended the programme of Association of Rural People of A&N Islands (ARPAN) organised in the Community hall at Ograbraj Village as Chief Guest today. In his address Sharma praised the services rendered by the team of the NGO (ARPAN) and its Chairman Shri NM Bashir for the betterment and upliftment of the poor irrespective of caste, creed and colour.

Sharma also recorded his pleasure and satisfaction for the noble deed of the team of ARPAN, which has come forward for the help of needy students by distributing free school kits containing School uniforms of the respective schools, note books, geometry boxes, pen, pencil etc.

Port Blair, July 2: As part of Financial awareness Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has launched RBIQ, an all-India Inter-School Quiz, with a view to create awareness and interest about the history and role of RBI, about banking and finance, other banking institutions, economics, current affairs, personalities and events that have contributed to the growth and progress of India over the years.

RBIQ will be held in the Auditorium at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon, Port Blair-744103, on July 08, 2013 from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. Port Blair, July 2: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today announced revised last dates for admission to various academic programmes under “common prospectus”.

Port Blair, July 2: The unemployed youth of these Islands those who have passed 8th std and not completed 28 yrs of age as on 01/07/2013 can apply for 8 weeks training on Food Production (catering) and 6 weeks training on Food & Beverage (Restaurant service) at National Institute of Tourism Hospitality Management  (NITHM), Hyderabad. This training is on free of cost and stipend will be given to the trainees. The hostel facilities will be arranged by NITHM on nominal charges and the expenditure of Breakfast, Dinner and Hostel charges may be adjusted from the stipend.

This year onwards the transportation charge from Port Blair to Hyderabad and back will be reimbursed by the Directorate of Tourism to the candidates who successfully completed the course and their performance and attendance will be taken into consideration for sanction of reimbursement. It is brought to the notice of the general consumers and government departments that the Electricity department will carry out urgent maintenance and line clearance works on main transmission from Barnbooflat 20 MW IPP Power House to (Garacharma Sub-Station (Panther-I & Panther-II) at Dandus Point on 03.07.2013. Due to this reason, there shall be one hour rotational load shedding in Port Blair and South Andaman area on 03.07.2013 (Wednesday) from 0900 hours to 1300 hours, if required.
