Limitations of Liabilities

Any transactions relating to sale/purchase of goods or services not directly offered by AC are to be settled inter-se between the parties to such transaction and all warranties express or implied of any kind, regarding any matter pertaining thereto, including without limitation the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement are disclaimed by AC. AC merely endeavors to provide a platform where you and other party may interact, exchange information or carry out sale/purchase transactions on such terms and in the manner mutually agreed between you and the other party. AC does not have any involvement in the actual transactions between the buyers and sellers in any way. It is only you, who is entirely responsible for all the activities, arising out of the transactions of sale/purchase of goods or services offered by any other party and not AC. Termination of Account

AC reserves its right to refuse service, restrict, suspend,terminate your account; (Terminate this Agreement; Terminate or suspend your access to the AC's Web Sites; Refuse, move or remove for any reason any Content / Image that you submit on or through the Services; Refuse, move, or remove any Content / Image that is available on or through the Services; Deactivate or delete your accounts and all related information and files in your account; Establish general practices and limits concerning use of the Services) at any time and, remove or edit contents or cancel orders (entered by you) in its sole discretion with or without cause, and with or without any prior notice for any violation of the Terms of Use. 21. right of privacy (specifically, you must not distribute another person's personal information of any kind without their express permission) or publicity;

22. any confidentiality obligation

Indiatimes Mail is designed to not let your mails bounce on account of space. However, your mails may bounce on account of other reasons like wrong or mispelt recipient name, size of e-mail, size /number of attachments, overall attachment limit, mail/attachment containing viruses/sinister code, server fault from the senders end, internet link failure etc, for which Indiatimes has no control and responsibility.

The size of the mail/size of attachments, etc. should be in accordance to the guidelines of Indiatimes e-mail:

20 MB for Outgoing Mail

Unlimited storage space is an offer valid only for a limited period of time and it can be withdrawn/extended by Indiatimes at any given point of time. The offer is valid only to those users meeting all the registration criterion and adhering to the usage policy defined below. (AC reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any given point of time at its discretion)

Usage policy of Indiatimes Mail

If the user does not access/log in into his mailbox at least once in three months (90 days) period, then the user account will be terminated and the user will no longer have access to the same. The users are subject to all other terms and conditions contained herein.

Disclaimer of Warranties and Liability

All warranties without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, workmanlike effort, title and non-infringement are disclaimed and excluded.

Limited time to bring your claim

    A. INFORMATION SUPPLIED BY USERS

    Registration data:

    When you register on the Sites for the Service, we ask that you to provide basic contact information such as your name, sex, age, address, pin code, contact number, occupation, interests and email address etc. When you register using your other accounts like on Facebook, Twitter, Gmail etc. we shall retrieve Information from such accounts to continue to interact with you and to continue providing the Services.

    Subscription or paid service data:

    When you choose any subscription or paid service provided as part of our Services, we or our payment gateway provider may collect your purchase, address or billing information, including your credit card number and expiration date etc. However, when you order using an in-app purchase option on any of the applications of the Company, same are handled by such mobile operating system platform providers. The subscriptions or paid Services may be on auto renewal mode unless cancelled. If at any point you do not wish to auto-renew your subscription, you may cancel your subscription before the end of the subscription term.

    Voluntary information:

    We may collect additional information at other times, including but not limited to, when you provide feedback, comments, change your content or email preferences, respond to a survey, or any communications with us.

    B. INFORMATION AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED/ TRACKED WHILE NAVIGATION

    Cookies

    To improve the responsiveness of the Sites for our Users, we may use "cookies", or similar electronic tools to collect Information to assign each visitor a unique, random number as a User Identification (User ID) to understand the User's individual interests using the identified computer or device. Unless you voluntarily identify yourself (through registration, for example), we will have no way of knowing who you are, even if we assign a cookie to your computer or device. The only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply. A cookie cannot read data off your hard drive or device. Our advertisers may also assign their own cookies to your browser (if you click on their ads etc.), a process that we do not control.     Opting out

    If a User opts out using the Ads Settings, the unique DoubleClick cookie ID on the User's browser is overwritten with the phrase "OPT_OUT". Because there is no longer a unique cookie ID, the opt-out cookie can't be associated with a particular browser.

    Clear GIFs

    We may use "clear GIFs" (Web Beacons) to track the online usage patterns of our Users in an anonymous manner, without personally identifying the User. We may also use clear GIFs in HTML-based emails sent to our Users to track which emails are opened by recipients. We use this information to inter-alia deliver our web pages to you upon request, to tailor our Sites or Service to the interests of our users, to measure traffic within our Sites to improve the quality, functionality and interactivity of our Sites and let advertisers know the geographic locations from where our Users come without personally identifying the Users.

Once you leave our servers (you can tell where you are by checking the URL in the location bar on your browser), use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the application, you are visiting.     When we present Information to our advertisers -- to help them understand our audience and confirm the value of advertising on our Sites -- it is usually in the form of aggregated statistics on traffic to various pages / content within our Sites. We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our Sites.     INFORMATION USE BY THE COMPANY

    The information as supplied by the users enables us to improve the Services and provide you the most user-friendly experience. In some cases/provision of certain service(s) or utility(ies), we may require your contact address as well. All required Information is service dependent and the Company may use the above said user Information to, maintain, protect, and improve the Services (including advertising and personalisation on the Sites) and for developing new services.     In case you choose to decline to submit personally identifiable information on the Sites, we may not be able to provide certain services on the Sites to you.     4. INFORMATION SHARING

    The Company shares your Information with any third party without obtaining the prior consent of the User in the following limited circumstances:

    a) When it is requested or required by law or by any court or governmental agency or authority to disclose, for the purpose of verification of identity, or for the prevention, detection, investigation including but not limited to cyber incidents, or for prosecution and punishment of offences. All information gathered on TIL is securely stored within the Company controlled database. The database is stored on servers secured behind a firewall; access to the servers is password-protected and is strictly limited. We cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet. And, of course, any information you include in a posting to the discussion areas is available to anyone with Internet access.

    We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit or use our Sites or Services. Starting with minimum, the news daily is the most popular and the most reliable source of information about the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India.

Andaman Chronicle’s prime focus is on Environment, Ecology and Tribes. It has been campaigning and defending the rights of the aboriginal tribes of Andaman Islands, known to be the first among the human race. It also carries articles, features and current affairs to keep its readers updated.

Andaman Chronicle was the first to launch a newspaper website in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the year 2008. After running the website for six years, it was shifted from .com to .net due to administrative reasons.

With the active support of the readers, Andaman Chronicle continues to serve the people of the islands and also keeps the world informed about the latest happenings in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

 

About the Editor:

Having done his Journalism from St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, India, Denis Giles returned to his Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the year 1999. Starting to work as a receptionist in a local hotel with not many avenues in journalism, Denis volunteered to work as a reporter for a local weekly called ‘The Light of Andamans’ under Late Mr. Paras Ram. Within months his works were noticed and he was picked up by the then only private daily in the islands ‘Andaman Herald’ as the Associate Editor.

Denis Giles later became a stringer for ‘Time Magazine’ in the year 2003 and also served as a stringer for the ‘Press Trust of India’ at a later stage. Since then, he has contributed to various national and international magazines like Down to Earth, Newsday, Mint among others.

Giles also edited a newsletter of the Society for Andaman & Nicobar Ecology (SANE) and reported several stories on the situation of the tribes, which helped the policy makers formulate policies for the tribes of Andaman Islands. He also worked as research assistant in the Nicobar group of islands under Dr. Simronjit Singh, Professor in Lund University, Vienna.

During the Tsunami of 26th December 2004, Denis risked his life and covered the Nicobar Islands along with Alexander J Perry, the then South East Asia Bureau Chief of ‘Time Magazine’, who reported from Port Blair. Soon after the tsunami, he served as a relief worker in the Nicobar group, which was completely devastated on the Boxing Day.

Denis has also exposed many disturbing stories of the Jarawa (Ang) tribes, which includes rape, murder, sexual exploitation, poaching among others.
