Port Blair, Feb 9: The Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture, Gol is organizing a play 'Agra Bazar’ to be performed by 'Naya Theatre', Bhopal in PBMC Auditorium on Feb.10, 2024 from 5 pm onwards.

Port Blair, Feb 9: With a view to promote good nutrition amongst the Islanders, the ICDS Urban Project under Directorate of Social Welfare will be organizing a 'Food Mela' with a tag line-‘sip, bite and believe: nutritious magic in every delicious flavour’ at Girls School from 3 to 8 pm on Feb. 10, 2024. This event aims to create awareness about the importance of nutrition in day-to-day life. SHGs, NGOs, and Anganwadi workers will present their culinary creations while health baby show and rangoli competition will also be organised during this event. 

Port Blair, Feb 9: The 12-day Tourist Guide Training Programme scheduled to be organized by the Tourism Department in association with Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Bhubaneswar from 19th February, 2024 has been rescheduled due to administrative reasons. It will now be held from 26th February to 8th March, 2024, including weekends.

Port Blair, Feb 9: All concerned have been informed that Sound & Light Show at NSCB Island and all tourist activities at NSCB Island, North Bay and Viper Island is temporary closed with effect from Feb.10, 2024 due to administrative reasons till further order.

 

Port Blair, Feb 8: During the discussion on Interim Budget 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma demanded that the budget for Andaman & Nicobar Islands should be increased from 5866 crore to 25,000 crores.

He mentioned that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year has witnessed a decrease from Rs. 5,987 crore to Rs. 5,866 crore compared to the previous year's allocation. Notably, reductions have been observed across various sectors under Demand Number 52 of the Budget. Specifically, allocations for Water Supply have decreased from 140.38 crores to 95.47 crores, Power from 882 crores to 666 crores, Forestry and Wildlife from 40.56 crores to 37.64 crores, Medical and Public Health from 127 crores to 118 crores, Social Welfare from 101 crores to 78.29 crores, and Road Transport from 55.26 crores to 50.05 crores. These reductions raise concerns regarding the potential impact on essential services and developmental projects in these sectors.
