Port Blair, Feb 7: In continuation to the press release of selected candidates to various Group C (Higher Secondary Level and Matric Level) posts issued by the Administration vide dated 24th January, 2024 and dated 6th February, 2024, a ‘Rozgar Mela’ is scheduled to be held on 12.02.2024 at Netaji Stadium Port Blair.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will distribute the Offer of Appointment letters to the selected candidates virtually through video conferencing on 12.02.2024.

Port Blair, Feb 7: In view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, today held a meeting with Officers of Department of Telecommunication, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and SOVTECH for advance preparation of Webcasting in Critical Polling Station and also discussed on smooth functioning of Election Toll Free No.1950.

As per the Election Commission of India’s instructions arrangements for webcasting shall be done in all Critical Polling Stations and Polling Stations in vulnerable areas to provide immediate support, for ensuring free and fair election and as a confidence building measures to voters.

Port Blair, Feb 7: National Science Day is celebrated every year in India on 28th February to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by the Indian Physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, who was honoured with many awards and won Nobel Prize in the Subject of Physics in 1930.

Mayabunder, Feb 7: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of N&M Andaman on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) today, marking a significant stride towards bolstering the fisheries sector. The session focused primarily on the selection of 83 beneficiaries for various subsidy programs, including construction of fish ponds, freshwater finfish hatcheries, new grow-out ponds, Ice plant and cold storage, two-wheelers with icebox, three wheelers with ice box, refrigerated vehicles and insulated vehicles.

Port Blair, Feb 7: A capacity building programme on ‘Implementation of Value Added Tax’ was held on Jan.18, 2024 in the Conference Hall of District Office, South Andaman. Shri Anand Vardhan Mishra, Assistant Commissioner (Settl.)/ (VAT), A&N Administration presided over the training programme/refresher course on various aspects of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Valued Added Tax Rules 2020 and Regulation 2017 such as registration, amendment, cancellation, assessment of tax, penalty, interest and enforcement etc. for the benefit of Officials from RCS Department designated as Value Added Tax Officers, Asst. Value Added Tax Officer and Inspectors of VAT. He urged all the designated VATOs, AVATOs and Inspectors under VAT to ensure complete compliance of rules & regulation for strict implementation and cohesive tax administration to avoid any possibility of tax evasion.
