Port Blair, Feb 23: The chess tournament for seniors to be organized by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association in collaboration with the Chinmaya Mission Port Blair on 25th February 2024 has been postponed and will now be held on 3rd March 2024 at Chinmaya Mission Port Blair. Interested Players who are above 50 years old are requested to register their names along with Rs 100/- as entry fees at Chinmaya Mission Port Blair on or before 1st March 2024.

Port Blair, Feb 23: The ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized the field day on “sequential cropping system for improving productivity and livelihood security” in collaboration with KVK, Port Blair at ICAR-CIARI, Garacharma experimental farm on 23.02.2024. The field day witnessed by Padma Shri Ms. Chellammal (Selected) along with 30 Farmers from South Andaman district. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair. The field day was aimed to make awareness on the sequential cropping under the plantations of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and sensitize the farmers on the potential, crop combinations to enhance the productivity of the plantations.

Port Blair, Feb 23: The Know Your Candidate (KYC) app is a mobile application developed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to help citizens know about the criminal antecedents of candidates contesting elections. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. To use the KYC app, voters need to select the election type and AC/PC name to view the list of the nomination or they can search the candidate by name. The app will then display information about the candidate's criminal antecedents, if any. This information includes the details of any criminal cases filed against the candidate, the status of those cases, and the nature of the offenses. The KYC app is a useful tool for citizens to make informed decisions about who to vote for. It can help voters to identify candidates with a history of criminal activity and to avoid voting for them. The app can also help to promote transparency and accountability in elections.

Port Blair, Feb 23: The Science Centre, Port Blair shall be organizing a Sky Show tomorrow (Feb.24) between 5.45 pm & 6.45 pm. The programmes to be presented include description about the Planet- Jupiter & its satellites.     Visitors shall be provided with a sky map of the sky over Port Blair for locating the planets and other celestial bodies. They can have the opportunity of viewing the Planet- Jupiter & its Moons popularly known as Galilean Moons called Io, Europa, Ganymede and Calisto through powerful telescope.
