Port Blair, Nov. 19: In view of extreme crisis of fresh water resources, to make a national campaign on conservation and saving water, Ministry of Water Resources had taken to noble plan to promulgate campaign though national painting competition on the theme conservation of water. In this regard it has also been envisaged that the school children will be the brand ambassadors to ventilate the slogan of saving water and its conservation in the wake of severe crisis of the precious resources all over the country through their drawing on the canvas.

Accordingly a national painting competition on Water Conservation has been started all over the country since 2010. The selection is done in three tiers i.e. the School level competition as it is done all over the islands where this year more than 3000 students had participated in more than 80 schools. From the successful students of School level competition, 50 candidates were selected for the second tier i.e. the State level/U.T level competition at Port Blair to select three best participants to join national competition in New Delhi on 21.1.2013. Many lucrative cash prizes will be given away besides the Certificate at the National as also the State level competitions.

The State Level competition will commence on 21.11.2012 at Govt. Sr. Secondary Girl’s School at Port Blair near Ramakrishna Mission at 9 am and the Prize Distribution ceremony will start at 3.30 pm where Shri G.T.N. Dhas, IAS and Secretary, A&N Admn. will grace the occasion as Chief Guest. Shri P.K. Singh Chief Engineer, APWD and Dr. R. Devdas, Director, Education will be present as Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively.
