Port Blair, Nov. 22: Air Force Contingent comprising of three officers and eight Airmen led by Group Captain Sunil Sadashivpeth, Station Commander, Air Force Station Prothrapur, Port Blair proceeded for Trekking expedition to Saddle Peak, the highest point in A & N group of Islands at 0630 hrs on 19 Nov 12.   The expedition was flagged off by Air Commodore TK Sinha, CSO (Ops) of HQ ANC.

The Trekking expedition has been undertaken with the aim to provide exposure to Air warriors on Basic Mountaineering, and Jungle Survival skills and interacting with the local populace.    The expedition will culminate on 23 Nov 12.   The participants studied the flora and fauna of the area and also undertook route cleaning while on their way to Saddle Peak.  They interacted with the locals and exchanged pleasantries creating a feeling of bonhomie and belongingness.   They came back with  a message of protecting the ecosystem at all costs and respecting the local culture / values and scale higher peaks in future.
