Port Blair, Dec. 14: Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Bhopinder Singh has sanctioned an amount of Rupees two lakhs from the LG’s Relief Fund for treatment of two patients at the mainland. One lakh rupees has been sanctioned to Shri Dhananjay Sarkar, who is having comminute fracture proximal tiria in the knee joint, and One lakh rupees to Smt. G Appalamma, who is suffering from cancer.

Shri Dhananjay is an educated unemployed youth and income from all sources is approximately 12,000 rupees per annum. The Member of Parliament had requested for sanctioning the ex-gratia to Shri Dhananjay.

Smt. Appalamma had met the Lt. Governor during Tuesday’s public hearing and her case was referred to the Directorate of Health Services and the Deputy Commissioner (SA) for reports. Based on the reports including her financial condition, the Lt. Governor has sanctioned ex-gratia for her treatment at mainland.
