Port Blair, Sept. 23: ‘Muktir Mandir Sopan Taley Kato Pran Holo Balidan’ (Downstairs the Temple of Freedom many lives were sacrificed for the Motherland) was the very song which inspired a large number freedom-fighters of the then United Bengal.  Late Mohini Chowdhury was the lyricist of this famous song.  Recently Shri Digbijoy Chowdhury, the able son of Mohini Chowdhury was on tour to these Islands. ‘MUKTA DHARA’, an Academy of Dance, Drama & Music of these Islands organised a get-together in honour of Shri Digbijoy Chowdhury on 21st September 2018 in its premises at Premnagar.

A number of local cultural activists namely Shri Raisuddin Gayen [ex-Member (PC) of SZCC], Shri Dipen Saha (General Secretary, Anandodhara), Shri Chittaranjan Roy (Folk Drama-Artist), Shri Anadiranjan Biswas (Editor, Baakprotima), Shri Hridayananda Roy (President, Mukta Dhara), Shri Uday Shankar Roy (Dotara-Player), Shri Siddharth Mourya among others were present in this get-together, who cherished the song and memory of its creator.  Shri Digbijoy Chowdhury also shared memories related to his father as well as the Lyricist Mohini Chowdhury.

At the beginning Shri Birendra Kishore Talukdar, Secretary, Mukta Dhara welcomed the guests.  Thereafter the song ‘Muktir Mandir Sopan Taley Kato Pran Holo Balidan’ was presented by Miss Brishti Roy, who later presented a Khayal and a Lalangeeti too.  Miss Priyanka Talukdar presented the rare art of ‘ventriloquism’ (talking doll) which enchanted the gathering. 

The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Chapala Talukdar on behalf of Mukta Dhara.
