On the occasion of Police Raising Day, I extend my heartiest greetings & best wishes to all the police personnel of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and acknowledge their irreplaceable role in maintaining law & order, crime prevention and in providing safe & secure environment to the Islanders.

After Independence, it was on 16th January, 1953, that Mr.  NaushirwanFerozSauntook, the first IPS officer took over the charge of the Superintendent of Police from Shri M. Macfarland. This day is celebrated as the “Raising Day” of the Andaman & Nicobar Police.

It gives me immense pleasure to learn that Andaman & Nicobar Police is celebrating its Police Raising Week from 16/01/2019 to 23/01/2019 by organizing various activities and programmes to improve Public Police Interface such as awareness drives on social and contemporary issues in schools, colleges & residential areas, cultural-cum-interaction programmes involving public & police families, visit of school children to Police Stations, jansambark& citizen committee meetings, nukkar-natak and performances by Police Entertainment Team & Police Band, etc. These are also in furtherance of #New Andamans initiatives.

On this occasion, I expect that Andaman & Nicobar Police will continue to discharge their duties with dedication & sincerity to extend effective services to the people of these Islands and will show greater professionalism, transparency and sensitivity in their functioning. I wish all the A&N Police Personnel & their families the very best.
