Port Blair, May 14: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Port Blair has activated the B.Sc (Geography) at Study Centre-0201, Port Blair for July 2019 academic session onwards. The programme is developed based on Choice Based Credit System. It contains four core theory courses (Physical Geography, Human Geography, General Cartography & Environmental Geography), two discipline specific electives (Geography of India & Economic Geography) and five laboratory courses, which includes - One Core Laboratory Course (General Cartography) and four Skill Enhancement Courses (Field Survey Methods, Remote sensing and GPS, Geographical Information System & Techniques in Regional Development Planning). 

The laboratory & theory classes will be conducted at the labs of JNRM College, Port Blair. The Practicals will be conducted in Cartography Laboratory equipped with computers capable of handling GIS and Remote Sensing Software; Global Positioning System, compass, and Stereoscopes; Survey of India Topographical Sheets and Indian Meteorological Department Weather Maps. There is no limitation of seats based on +2 marks. All eligible (+2) science students can take admission in B.Sc (Geography). The deprived students, who do not get seat in regular college, can study B.Sc (Geography) through IGNOU. The admission for July 2019 Academic session is open at IGNOU website: www.ignou.ac.in.
