Port Blair, July 15: A handicraft making competition for female was organized by the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars District in the conference hall of EOC, Kamorta yesterday (July 12, 2019) under the scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

A large numbers of students from various schools of Nancowry participated in the handicraft making competition. General public, Govt. Officials and school teachers witnessed the event. Spectators also lauded the efforts of the participants and their talents.

The Assistant    Commissioner,    Nancowry, Shri    Vinay    Kumar   Jindal,    inaugurated the competition and lauded the talents of participants. He stated that the participants will make the handicrafts alive in Nancowry Sub-Division and their participation in the competition will further motivate the elders to shine in the field of handicrafts. 

The Commanding Officer, INS Kardip and Commanding Officer, ICGS, Kamorta also witnessed the competition and appreciated the wonderful efforts of the students and distributed chocolates to school students and participants. A panel of judges selected the best three handicrafts and the winners will be awarded on the occasion of Independence Day, 2019.
