Port Blair, July 15: As part of the month long celebration of 70th Van Mahotsav-2019, a mass tree planting programme was organized by the Forest Extension & Publicity Division of the Department of Environment & Forest, in the premises of Govt. Primary School, Mazhar Pahar recently. The students, teachers, staff of the School participated in the event by planting fruit bearing, flower bearing & shade bearing plants in the school campus.

Similarly, tree planting programme was organized in the premises of Radha Govind Temple School, RGT Road in the presence of Shri Jai Kumar Roy, Manager RGT School.  Students, teachers, staff of the School and villagers participated in the event by planting various plants in the campus. Shri Balwinder Singh Toor welcomed the gathering and urged the students to plant trees and nurtures them. 

Shri Ayyub Hassan, DFO FE&PD briefed about the  importance of Van Mahotsav and requested the students and the members of the School to come forward and plant at least one tree each in their own land for future basic needs. He urged the students to inculcate the habit of protecting and conserving the environment not merely during these celebrations but throughout the year. The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Shri S. K. Roy, Forest Ranger Forest Extension & Publicity Division.
