Port Blair, July 15: Since 19th February, 2019, '112' emergency number has been providing assistance to people for various services like police, fire, ambulance, women safety etc.

Recently, a caller from Ranchi Basti called 112 Emergency Control Room and informed that his brother was very ill and was vomiting continuously and his health condition was very critical. However, due to late night hours, no conveyance was available in vicinity and he wanted to take him to hospital urgently.

On receipt of this information, prompt action was taken by 112 Control Room and immediately one ambulance from GB Pant hospital was diverted for the spot. Within 12 minutes, the ambulance reached the spot and the patient was evacuated and admitted at GB Pant Hospital for treatment. 

The general public is urged to utilize the services of Emergency Response Support System by dialing 112 for any emergency.
