Port Blair, Aug 11: The National Service Scheme, Unit Number 4, JNRM, students of Department of Home Science, in collaboration with the Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya (JNV), Port Mout and Pradhan, Chouldari organised a massive rally for creating awareness on the importance of water in Chouldari on 10th August 2019. Smt. T. I. Syamala, Principal, JNV flagged off the rally in which students of JNV, NSS Volunteers of Unit Number 4 took part.

The rally started from the JNV School to ATR, Chouldari Market, Residential areas and culminated in the Vidyalaya. In the rally, the students raised slogans on Save Water, Save Life.

While addressing the general public in Chouldari Bazaar, Smt. T.I. Syamala, Principal, JNV emphasised the need of rain water harvesting structures for saving the water. She thanked the JNRM for coming all the way to organise the rally with JNV and conveyed her happiness in creating awareness through joint venture. The aim of this rally is to create awareness among the public, she added.

Dr. K.Venkatesan, NSS Programme Officer Unit No.4 underscored the importance of water and informed various possible methods of conserving water. The students as part of NSS and extension outreach activity should take care of the traditional water harvesting structures and other natural resource management activities as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Shri. G. Mazumdar, Zilla Parishad Member, Chouldari said that the panchayat is taking all efforts and measures to save water. The residents should also join hands with the Panchayat Raj Institutions for creating awareness.

As part of the Massive Tree Planting Campaign, many saplings were planted in the JNV campus and distributed to the general public also. Altogether 150 students and NSS Volunteers took part in this rally. 

The adverse weather didn’t dampen the spirit of the participants and they enthusiastically joined hands for a noble cause for the welfare of everyone and the coming generation also.
