Port Blair, Aug 13: India Post has invited the students of the isles to participate in the philately scholarship scheme Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby) for the year 2019-20.

Under this Scheme, Students of class VI to IX having good academic record and pursuing philately as a hobby will be awarded scholarships on the basis of Philately Quiz & Philately Project to be conducted by Divisional/ Regional/ Circle offices of India Post. The amount of Scholarship per person will be Rs. 6000/- per annum, i.e. Rs. 500/- per month.

Interested students may submit the application addressed to the Office of the Postmaster General, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Port Blair through Speed Post/Registered post or by hand in prescribed form, by 16th of August 2019. The school In-charge/Head may also send the applications of all the interested candidates of a school in one envelope by post or by hand.

Before sending the applications the candidates should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility criteria prescribed. For form, eligibility criteria and other details, interested candidates may contact the Office of the Postmaster General, Port Blair. Students may also visit www.westbengalpost.gov.in for more information about the scheme, eligibility etc. Applications received through courier will not be entertained. India Post launched the SPARSH Scheme in November 2017 for generating interest regarding Philately amongst students.
