On the 73rd anniversary of our glorious Independence day, I extend my heartiest warm greetings to all the Islanders. 15th August is celebrated every year to commemorate the greatest moment in our history, very joyfully, as on this day our country got freedom from the British rule. Today, we pay collective tribute to those brave and courageous freedom fighters and nationalists who laid down their lives to free our Country. I urge my fellow islanders to come forward and get inspired from the sacrifices and hard struggles of our great patriots. In history, our Islands, Andaman & Nicobar always keep special mention as the first  batch of freedom fighters were brought in the year 1858 and it is the place where National Flag was first unfurled by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on 30th December, 1943 at Gymkhana ground  prior to Indian Independence.  On this very special day, let all of us take a vow to work in harmony to protect our islands’ years long social and cultural heritage, monuments, our tribes, our environment and be a personal soldier of our Islands as well of our Mother land to protect her from evil forces.  With all confidence I say that our Islands will march forward towards the path of all round development in the coming years becoming self sustainable and contributing to the Nation’s economy and the entire Nation will be proud of us. On this magnificent Anniversary of our glorious Independence, I extend my heartiest warm greetings to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and wish you all peace, prosperity and all round progress. On this special day, I would also like to thank our Armed forces for protecting our Nation for the last 73 years. A special clarion call to the youths of our Islands in whose hands lie the future and security of our motherland.

Jai Hind.
