Central Crime Station Arrested Drug Peddlers

Port Blair, Aug 19: TheCentral Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against drug-peddlers & contraband in A&N Islands has arrested two drug peddlers. On 16/08/2019 a team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS CCS, SI Madhab Halder, Head Constable V. Hentho, P. Mustafa, Constable P. K. Mondal, K. Rajendran and Home Guard Seema Kujurwas constituted. Based on credible information a raid was conducted at Namunaghar Ranchi Basti and one person namely Smti Saida Begum W/o Shri Farman Khan (53 yrs.) R/o Namunaghar Ranchi Basti was arrested and 110 grams ganja was recovered from her possession. The other accused person managed to escape from the spot.

Later on sustained interrogation, she disclosed that the person who fled away from the spot was her husband Farman Khan and they used to sell ganja together. The illicit ganja was seized on the spot and accused Smti Saida Begum was arrested under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.

Later, on 17/08/2019, the absconding accused Farman Khan S/o Shri Akbar Khan (62 yrs.) R/o Namunaghar Ranchi Basti was chased and finally traced out from Garacharma and arrested by Sub-Inspector Bisavjeet Prasad of PS CCS. Earlier also Farman Khan was arrested for possessing ganja and a case under NDPS was registered against him at PS Ograbraj in 2008. The entire raid was supervised by Dy.SP(CID) Shri. Syad Abdul Rashid under the overall supervision of Shri. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID). 

The Central Crime Station (CCS) unit of Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti social activity and keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public has been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832& 9531857830. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
