Voluntary Blood Donation Camp Organized by Police Family Welfare Centre

Port Blair, Aug 21: A voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized by Police Family Welfare Centre, Andaman & Nicobar Police, in association with G.B.Pant Hospital and Inner Wheel Club, Port Blair on 21st August, 2019 at Police Lines, Port Blair. Shri Sanjay Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Shiwani Shahi, Vice President, Police Family Welfare Centre was the Guest of Honour who inaugurated the event and motivated the participants with her gracious presence.

Smt. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Secretary, PFWC, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and all the participants including Smt. Raj Mahajan, Charter President, Inner Wheel Club, Smt. Aachal Goel, President, Inner Wheel Club, Smt. Poonam Arora, Chairperson, Social Welfare Advisory Board and Dr. N.R. Kodhandram, Chief Medical Officer, G.B. Pant Hospital.   

The camp saw an overwhelming response from the police community. More than 200 Police personnel participated in the event and got counseled for blood donation. Altogether, 66 police personnel from various Units and Police Stations of A&N Police voluntarily come forward to donate blood for the noble cause. Senior officers of A&N Police including DIGP Shri Vijay Singh, IPS, also donated blood for the great social cause. 

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, A&N Islands, highlighted the importance of blood donation as a great example of altruism in action. He said that blood donation is a human duty and best social help and further motivated everyone to voluntarily come forward for this social cause. He also expressed his gratitude towards Police Family Welfare Centre, Inner Wheel Club and G.B. Pant Hospital for organizing this programme. 

The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Ms. Aachal Goel, President, Inner Wheel Club, Port Blair .
