Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Commercial Vehicle Owners went on strike/ protest dharna today, paralyzing the city against the recent hike in traffic violation fine and other issues relating to the difficulties  faced by the vehicle owners.  The strike was affective as none of the private busses, rickshaws or tourist cabs were seen catering to the need of the general public. 

Later the agitating members of Commercial  Vehicles sat on a dharna at Tiranga Park, Port Blair. Shri. Vishal Jolly, State President, BJP A&N Islands met the strikers at 10.00 A.M and heard their demands. 

After having spoken to the agitating members, at about 11.00 A.M, Jolly met the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands at Secretariat and explained the difficulties and genuine demands of commercial vehicle owners. In this regard, the Chief Secretary has called a meeting which is scheduled for 13.09.2019 with Shri. Vishal Jolly and Commercial Vehicle Owners delegate to sort-out the difficulties and demands.
