Port Blair, Sept. 12: To mark National Nutrition Month, Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit (CFNEU) organised a Nutrition Camp in the Government Senior Secondary School, Bambooflat on 9th of September, 2019. About 100 Students participated and benefited from the camp.

During the camp, Shri Anil Kumar Dhiman, Demonstration Officer, CFNEU explained the importance of nutrition and reasons of malnutrition in human body to the students. He requested students especially to the girl students to add green leafy vegetables and sour fruits in their daily food intake in order to prevent anaemia.    

Health officials from Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration also interacted with the students on the benefits of healthy lifestyle. The Body Mass Index (BMI) and anaemic conditions of the students were also tested on the occasion.  Effective Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material on Nutrition provided by Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was also distributed during the event. CFNEU operates under Food and Nutrition Board of Ministry of Woman and Child Development.
