Port Blair, Sept. 13: The Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands has arrested one drug peddler.

On 12/09/2019 a team comprising of SI Madhab Halder, SI T. Dilla Rao, Head Constable P. Mustafa, Constable K. Rajendran, Hari Krishna Yadav,  P. K. Mondal and Indumati was constituted based on credible information received by Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO, PS CCS and accordingly on the direction of Dy. SP (CID) Shri Abhishek Gupta a raid was conducted by team of PS CCS at Delanipur near AIR Tri junction and apprehended, one person namely A. Karupaiah S/o Late S. P. Arumugam (48) yrs., R/o Buniyadabad and recovered 270 grams of illicit ganja from his possession.

Later on he disclosed to the Police team that he is in possession of Contraband ganja and was planning to sell illicit Ganja clandestinely to youths at Delanipur near AIR Tri junction. The illicit ganja was seized on the spot and accused was arrested under the relevant sections i.e 20(b) (ii) A of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985.  The entire raid was commanded by Shri Abhishek Gupta, Dy.SP(CID) under the overall supervision of  Shri. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).     

The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over gamblers, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public is requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substances, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832 (SHO) & 8900910419 (Dy.SP CID). The identity of informer will be kept secret.
