Port Blair, Sept 16: Under the capacity building programme in the context of Disaster Management in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Directorate of Disaster Management is organizing a week long programme from 16th to 21st September, 2019. During the weeklong programme, a training workshop under Disaster Management in Higher Education (DMHE) Programme is being organized on Sept.16, 2019 in Andaman College, Port Blair covering preparation of Disaster Management Plan at Colleges, hands on training on basic life saving skills for task forces i.e. Search and Rescue (SAR), Evacuation and Medical First Response (MFR) and fire fighting.

Another training workshop on Incident Response System (IRS) will be arranged in coordination with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Govt. of India, New Delhi on 17th and 18th September, 2019 at the Conference Hall of DBRAIT, Dollygunj, Port Blair for the members of Incident Response Teams (IRTs) at State & District level and also for Responsible Officers (ROs) and Assistant Responsible Officers (AROs) of smaller Islands. Two renowned resourced persons from NDMA, Brig. Kuldip Singh (Retd.), Consultant, NDMA and Dr. Pavan Kumar Singh, Jt. Advisor (Ops), NDMA shall impart training to the members of IRTs. 

A three day training programme on “School Safety Disaster Management Plan” is also scheduled from 19th to 21st September, 2019 at the Conference Hall of Megapode Resort, Port Blair. The Programme is arranged in collaboration with National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), New Delhi. The programme is aimed at capacity building of school teachers of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
