Port Blair, Oct. 10: With the aim of effective response and to deal with emergent terror threats, the first phase of ‘PARAKRAM’, a Comprehensive Anti-Terror Response Mechanism was launched in Port Blair in the month of December 2018 to instill the sense of security in the minds of general public. This mechanism further needs to be consolidated and institutionalized in view of the current security scenario and increased the anti-terror capabilities of the A&N Police Force.

In order to cover far flung area i.e Campbellbay, Swaraj Dweep & Diglipur, on 10/10/2019, the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS flagged off the Second Phase of Parakram at Flag Point, South Point in presence of other officers of A&N Police. The Parakram Phase-II Vans manned with counter assault NSG trained Commandos of IRBn, equipped with sophisticated weapons & gadgets in a newly procured 03 TATA Safari Storme Ex SUV. The critical time to counter any untoward incident is important to minimize or prevent the damage to life and property. The vehicle will ensure self-reliance in terms of trained combat team to counter terrorist attacks or any other crisis situation. During the address, the Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Police Shri. Dependra Pathak, IPS emphasized upon the need to have implement Phase-II for the safety and security of the Islanders. 

A welcome speech was given by Shri. Manoj C., IPS Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District underlining the mandate, duties and responsibilities of the staff of Parakram Vehicles and the vote of thanks was given by Shri. Anand Mittal, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Security).
