550th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Port Blair, Oct. 21: To celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Port Blair organised a Group Song/Kirtan Competition based on the theme of teachings and shabds of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the auditorium of RGT Public Vidyalaya today. Students of various schools and colleges of the islands participated enthusiastically in the event.

Students of Tagore Government College of Education, Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkiya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) and Andaman Law College won the first, second and third prize respectively in the inter-college category. Under inter-school category of Group Song/Kirtan competition, Students of Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School, Government Model Senior Secondary School and RGT Public Vidyalaya secured the first, second and third place respectively.   

Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur Jagpal, Principal Khalsa Public Senior Secondary School was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ms Rita Bannerjee, Principal RGT Public Vidyalaya was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Noor Mohammad, retired Music Teacher and Ms Gurpreet Kaur, GTT Humanities Senior Secondary School, School Line were the Judges on the occasion.

Winners of the recently held Quiz competition on Life and Philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji were also awarded on the occasion. Sharon George of Carmel Senior Secondary School, R Akash of Government Model Senior Secondary School and Meherpreet Kaur Bijjan of Carmel Senior Secondary School won the first, second and third prize respectively. Shri Nilesh Kumar Kalbhor, Incharge FOB welcomed the gathering at the beginning of the event and proposed the vote of thanks to conclude the event.
