Car Nicobar, Oct. 21: On 18^th Oct. 2019 a sensitization meeting on recently amended Traffic Rules/Regulation and Ban on use of single use plastic was convened in the Conference Hall of SP office, Car Nicobar under the Chairmanship of Sh. Rajeev Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District. During the meeting, all the present village headmen, local vendors and youth Secretaries of villages have been requested to adhere the traffic rules while driving /riding and also briefed about the stiff fines and penalties as per new notification of MV Act. Apart from this, the attendee were also elaborately briefed as per the published Notification about the ban on use of plastic items and requested them to pass this information to the villagers and customers/ general public. Shopkeepers and villagers were briefed about ill effects of plastic and requested to use paper/cloth bags instead of plastic carry bags to protect the pristine environment of Nicobar District.
