Port Blair, Nov. 6: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with Elected Councillors and general public met the Chief Secretary on 4th Nov. 2019 and requested him to allot 05 acres of land lying vacant in between rear side of Veer Savarkar International Airstrip connecting to Bhatuhasti end and commercial parking space to Smart City Project.
As per smart city mission of Govt. of India suggested to make the islands vibrant and Eco-friendly tourist destination, focusing on trade and industry development, well-organized metropolitan services, participatory social development and connectivity.
Sharma has thus requested to ensure sustainable development of Port Blair city & to improve the key metrics of liveability and environmental sustainability. These areas need to be re-shaped into Modern Park with all facilities like Gymnasium, Library, Walking and Jogging track, Volley ball Court, Basket Ball Court, Swimming pool, Yoga Centre, Skill development centre where people from all walks of life from the nearby neighbourhood of Bathubasti, Pathurgudda, Garacharama, Austinabad, Calicut, Old Pahargaon, Brookshabad, Brijgunj etc. can benefit. This will also ensure that the general public get a better opportunity for better health, especially the youths who can be engaged in constructive works and remain away from social evils.
