Port Blair, Nov. 13: Central Crime Station police in its continuous efforts against bootlegging & illegal activities, succeeded in catching a big haul of illicit IMFL.

The PS CCS staff is working hard to eradicate the menace of bootlegging and illegal sale of illicit liquor in the Island.  To keep their tempo in uprooting  illegal sale of illicit liquor  vigorous efforts are being made to catch the bootlegger & drug peddlers, so that the youth and society does not fall prey to them. As a result of this one bootlegger was arrested by a patrolling team of PS Central Crime Station comprising SI MadhabHalder, SI Bisavjeet Prasad, Head constable Sanjay Kujur& Constable Rajesh  on 12/11/2019. On patrolling in Lamba Line area near Das fabrication shop the team noticed that there is a gathering of persons near a tea shop. On suspicion the team approached towards that shop and found that one person was selling IMFL bottle to the public.  Thereafter, the team searched the nearby area of his shop and found 154 IMFL bottles (94 Nos. officers choice prestige whisky and 60 Nos. officers choice blue pure grain whisky) all company sealed and concealed in the bushes  on the backside of his house .  On asking his name and address he disclosed the same as T. Murugeshan S/o  LateDamodharan  (51 yrs.) R/o Lamba Line.The bootlegger carried IMFL with intention to sell them to local persons at a good price on “Dry Day”. He was arrested and a case under Excise Regulation, 1876 has been registered against him. The entire operation was conducted by Inspector Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS &over all supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID), A&N Islands. 

The Central Crime Station  &  CID Unit of  Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over storage and selling of illicit liquor, IMFL and smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832 & 8900910419. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
