Lt. Governor Distributes Trophies to Winners, Runners Up

Port Blair, Dec.6: Team Punjab has lifted the 65th SGFI National School Football Championship-2019 for Boys Under-19. In the final of the tournament played at the historic Netaji Stadium here today, Team Punjab beat Kerala by a solitary goal through a free kick by the Punjab Defender, Jaspreet Singh just eight minutes before the final whistle was blown. The Lt. Governor A & N Islands & Vice Chairman, Island Development Agency, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), chief guest of the final match distributed trophies to the winners and runners up of the Championship. He also declared the Championship closed. Team CISCE bagged the 2nd runners up Trophy.

The other dignitaries, who distributed awards to the players included the Principal Secretary A & N Administration, Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, Chairperson PBMC, Shri N K Udhaya Kumar, Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad South Andaman, Shri Subir Chander, Secretary (Edn. & Sports), Smt. Kriti Garg and Observer of the Championship, Shri C K Gupta.

Team West Bengal was awarded the ‘Well Discipline Team’ award while Team Odhissa secured the ‘Fair Play’ award. Lucas of A & N Islands Team won the ‘Young Promising Player’ award and the Punjab Goalkeeper was adjudged the ‘Best Goalkeeper. ‘Best Player of the Islands’ Team was bagged by Kavin while Team IPSC got the ‘Fastest Goal of the Tournament’ award.

Raman Deep Singh of Team Haryana bagged the ‘Highest Scorer’ award by scoring 9 goals during the Championship. The ‘Classic Goal of the Tournament’ award was bagged by Yohan Victor of CISCE team. Jaspreet Singh of Team Punjab bagged the ‘Best Stopper’ and ‘Score of The Final Match’ award. 

A colourful cultural programme was presented by the school students of GDMS, Middle Point, GSSS Haddo (English & Tamil Medium), and MS Delanipur while Sidesh Patil and Avinash presented Hindi and English numbers on the occasion.
