Port Blair, Feb 14: Shri Nagesh Kujur alongwith Manohar Xess and Kishore had gone for fishing by engine dinghy at 1500 hrs. When they reached near Madhuban, the engine suddenly got air locked and stopped working. Subsequently, water started to fill into the boat due to waves and all of sudden the plastic container through which the water was being removed, fell into the sea. Immediately, Manohar jumped into the sea to fetch the plastic container and till 15-20 minutes they heard the voice of Manohar but after some time they couldn’t hear any voice due to darkness, heavy waves and wind. Thereafter every possible effort was made by them to find Manohar but all in vain.

At 0040 hrs, information was received at PS Bambooflat, immediately  two teams were formed one headed by self SI K. Ilangovan SHO PS Bambooflat along with SI (Master) Paul, SI(ED) MM Dasan, PSI Vishal Mistry, HC Morison, HC K Venkat Rao and HC G Suresh Kumar and Shri Nagesh Kujur and another team was formed for foot patrolling along the side of the sea shore area from Madhuban to Shoal Bay  headed by SI Sudhir Kumar along with HC Birsa Tirkey, PC S. Venkateshwar Rao and PC Apurba Biswas.

While SHO PS Bambooflat and team during search and rescue operation reached at near the stated place of occurrence which is 1 KM away from sea shore of Madhuban and sighted a person walking along the side of sea shore who was later identified as Manohar by the complainant and soon HC G Suresh Kumar jumped into the sea with life jacket and ring bouya and swam towards him and the same person was brought by him to the FIB. Immediately, he was given first aid, food & water and was brought to Bambooflat jetty then he was taken to CHC Bambooflat for proper medical treatment. This operation could be made possible through the efforts and hard labours by the local Police of PS Bambooflat and Police Marine Force.    

The entire operation took place under SDPO Bambooflat, Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS under the overall direction and supervision of Shri. Manoj C., IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. The general public is requested to pass any information with Police without any hesitation/loss of time to 112, 100, 03192-232100 for securing the life and properties of the Islanders as well as the tourists.
