Port Blair, Feb 17: The Department of Home Science, JNRM, in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India is organising a Three-day State level Workshop on Gender Budgeting for the Government officials. The training commenced today in the Seminar Room of JNRM.
During the inauguration the Chief Guest Dr. C. Sylendra Babu, IPS, Director General Police (Railways / Fire & Rescue Services), Tamilnadu Police, Government of Tamilnadu described that the contribution of women is inevitable for the betterment of society and one cannot ignore the stellar role performed by the women. Gender Budgeting will serve as a bridge between the beneficiaries and the Government for better implementation where the Police forces and civilian departments should join hand in hand for better service delivery of women related schemes and programmes of the Government. He also spoke in detail about the measures to be taken to safeguard women.
Addressing the students on “How to Synergize your Goals” Dr. C. Sylendra Babu vividly explained the skills for the students in today’s competitive world. During the interactive session with the students he presented his books on How to Become an IPS Officer, Be Ambitious, Principles of Success in Interview and Health & Happiness to the students. He answered the questions of students ranging from how to appear for the interview board, preparation of civil services, cycling, self development etc.,
Shri. P. Naveen Kumar IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, A&N Administration spoke on how he imbibed the ideals of Dr. Sylendra Babu during his college days. He also requested the students to utilize the time properly for becoming bureaucrats in order to serve the nation. Shri. R. Suresh Kumaar, Assistant Commandant, CISF, and Incharge CASO of VSI Airport appreciated the Department of Home Science for bringing such resource persons for the benefit of students. He exhorted the students to prepare well for the competitive examinations.
Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM, informed the gathering on the importance of women as better manager with reference to budgeting. He also underscored the various activities and programmes for women in which JNRM is the primary awareness provider like Beti Bachao Beti Padao, POSHAN Maah, Skill Development for Women etc.
Dr. K. Venkatesan, HOD, Home Science and Convener of this programme spoke about the background of the programme and highlighted the activities carried out by the Home Science Department on Gender Budgeting. Dr. S. Jayakumar, Principal, ANCOL congratulated the Home Science Department for organising students responsive programmes. Earlier Smt. Nidhi Shekhawat Assistant Professor of Home Science and Co-Convener of the programme welcomed the gathering and Dr. Rekha Kumari, Resource Person, Department of Home Science proposed vote of thanks. The programme was moderated by Smt. Nitika Garhia, Resource Person, Department of Home Science, JNRM.
