Port Blair, Feb 19: A two-day Training Programme on “Cattle Rearing for Livelihood” was organized and conducted by Veterinary Dispensary, Elephant Point unit of Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in association with ATMA at Namunaghar Gram Panchayat from 11/02/2020 to 12/02/2020. Smti. Preetima Kumari Tirkey, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Namunaghar was Chief Guest during the inaugural session. She urged the participants to adopt Cattle rearing for family needs and also for livelihood and use dung as fertilizer. 

Dr. Subhash B. Palve, Senior Veterinary Officer, Elephant Point elaborated about importance of rearing of Cattle, present scenario of Dairy farming, scope for livelihood, different management aspects, disease conditions etc. Dr. S.K. Choubey, Senior Veterinary Officer, Port Mout explained in detail about housing, feeding of cattle and also stressed on regular deworming along with Vaccination against FMD. He also briefed how to get loan and various ways to grow green fodder in limited land. On the last day a demonstration on fodder grass plantation and Azolla plot preparation also conducted in the premises of LTCDF, Elephant Point. All together 25 Persons participated in the programme.
