Swaraj Dweep, Feb. 21: It all came from a single thought of two youngsters Leoni & Eleni from Israel - the Ocean cares for us, let’s return the favour. And beach clean-up day was the answer to this thought.

A record number of over 50 volunteers spanning 4 countries - Israel, Spain, UK and India gathered on the 16th of February at the Red Snapper Restaurant in Wild Orchid Resorts to help clean beach litter.

Emerald Gecko who organised the event reported shocking amounts of plastic, glass, cans and hazardous material, retrieved from every 25 mtrs of the beach.

To support the cause, local logistics were provided by Andaman Bubbles, Emerald Gecko & Flying Elephant. The volunteers also thanked the contribution of the Forest Department for providing additional support by means of responsible waste disposal, despite it being a Sunday.

The team effort led to the removal of over hundred kilograms of waste from the beach, ensuring that B.E.A.C.H (Best Escape Anyone Can Have) is for sure!
