All Residents in 3 Km Radius of the Resident of Confirmed Case to be Screened

Port Blair, March 30: The designated laboratory for COVID-19 in A&N Islands, RMRC–ICMR, Dollygunj has conducted test of 33 suspected cases yesterday out of which 32 samples were found negative and only 01 sample was found positive. Now, the total number of cases which have been found positive is 10 out of 99 samples tested in this UT till date. The health official had shifted the positive case to G B Pant Hospital isolation ward and started process of contact listing. As on today, all patients of confirmed cases of COVID-19 are healthy and stable. They are cooperating in contact listing to find out those who came in their contact after they infected with virus. 

It is pertinent to mention that the one case which is found positive is contact case of the person who travelled from Delhi to Port Blair by Indigo Flight on 24.03.2020. Therefore, the District Administration has launched the District Containment Plan under which they have to screen all the residents in the radius of 03 Km from the resident of confirmed case. The Containment Plan is being implemented with the help of Health Department for which DC South Andaman put 50 households under one team. All general public of this area have been requested to cooperate with District Administration during screening process and also to remain in their houses during the Lock Down period to effectively combat against the spread of COVID-19 in the Islands.
