Port Blair, Jan. 17: As a part of 38th Coast Guard Raising Day celebrations Indian Coast Guard conducted a Drawing and Painting Competition for School Children on  17 Jan 2014 at Gandhi Park, Marina Beach Road with the theme of "THE NATURE".  The aim of the event was to promote talent, creativity, spirit of competition and awareness about Coast Guard amongst young generation.

Mrs Jyoti Murthy, President Tatrakshika (A&N) was the Chief Guest for the event.  A total of 120 children from 12 different schools of Port Blair participated in the event.  'On the Spot Topics' were given to the budding artists under three different categories.  Sushmita Bala of Ananda Marga English Medium School came first in Group A (3rd to 4th standard), Sneha Prasad of GDMS school, Middle Point came first in Group B (5th to 8th standard), while Gurunadh of Govt. Sr. Sec. School Telugu Medium came first in Group C (9th to 12th standard).  A freehand painting demonstration was also given by Asst Comdt Pritam Ghosh from ICGS Kanaklata Barua to enhance interest of the young generation towards this creative field.

 

After culmination of the event, Mrs Jyoti Murthy gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Jyoti Murthy, President Tatrakshika congratulated winners and all the participating children. She also thanked Tatrakshika (A&N) members and co-ordinating unit ICGS Kanaklata Barua for organising such a colourful event smoothly and flawlessly.
