Port Blair, Oct 31: As part of the birth anniversary celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Unifier of India, a ‘Run for Unity’ was organized by Directorate of Sports and Youths Affairs, supported by Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, here today. The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, who was the chief guest of the event, administered a pledge for National Unity to the people present on the occasion and flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ at Netaji Stadium here this morning.

The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar, BJP State President, Shri Vishal Jolly, PBMC Chairperson, Shri B. Eswar Rao, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Senior Officers of the Administration, representatives of different political parties, PRIs, Representatives from ACCI, PBMC and prominent senior citizens were present on the occasion. 

A large number of students from various schools, JNRM College, Sports Authority of India, Andaman & Nicobar Sports Academy, representatives from ALHW and Andaman & Nicobar Police participated in the Run for Unity. The Run for Unity which started from Netaji Stadium passed through Clock Tower, Model School, Post Office, Bengali Club, Light House, Gandhi Chowk, Narayan Chowk and culminated back at Netaji Stadium.
