Port Blair, May 6: The Rashtriya Janata Dal State Vice President, Shri. Muthu Ramalingam, Councillor Ward No. 11 has joined the Indian National Congress along with 35 of his followers.  Ramalingam has expressed full faith in the policies and the efforts being made by the Congress Party under the leadership of the ANTCC President, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma towards ensuring the welfare of the islanders.

Sharma has welcomed the RJD leader and his followers into the Congress fold at Gandhi Bhawan on 6th May 2013. The PBMC Chairperson, Shri. PB Murugan, PCC Vice President, Shri. Hamid Ali, District President, Shri. RV Reddy and other Congress leaders were present on this occasion.    

Port Blair, May 7: Dr. R. Thulasidasan, Dy. Director (Health & Family Welfare), Directorate of Health Services has been promoted as the Medical Superintendent of Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder / Joint Director (Health), North & Middle Andaman. He is the first among the Settler Community of A&N Islands to reach upto the post of Joint Director with a pay scale of Rs. 10,000/-. Requests LG for Compensation and Allotment of Shops For Victims

Port Blair, May 5: The PCC President, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has reminded the Lt. Governor regarding his consideration to issue compensation to the victims of fire accident which occurred on 23rd April, 2013 at about midnight. 

Enclosing the assessment report prepared by the Tehsildar Ferrargunj, Sharma wrote in his letter that all the unfortunate victims are from very poor background. As per report of the Tehsildar, the house owner PK Mohammed Siddique has sustained an approximate damage of about Rs. 12,00,000/- while Bitish Baroi, Vegetable shop owner, Anukul Das, Stationary Shop owner, Thanveera Bashir, eatery shop owner and Smti R Laxmi, Bakery owner have sustained approximate damages of Rs 19,000/-, 1,75,000/-, 4,00,000/- and 1,10,000/- respectively in the fire accident.

Besides compensation from Lt Governor's fund, Sharma has also earnestly requested to consider alternate shops to the distressed shop owners so that they can start earning their livelihood.
